Mondelez hosts roundtable

Mondelez South Africa held a roundtable on Thursday, 23 November which brought together a panel of experts to discuss the importance of enterprise development and the role of the fiercely competitive informal sector as a vehicle to support economic growth.

The roundtable discussion found that entrepreneurs are the key to addressing South Africa’s jobs crisis, with the informal trading sector having a vital role to play in contributing to household income. The panel also found that for this sector to thrive, enterprise development programs, enforcement of regulations and greater cooperation between individual enterprise owners are critical.

The panel included Thulani Guliwe (senior manager, research, at Gauteng Economic Propeller), Navisha Bechan-Sewkuran (manager, corporate and government affairs: Southern, Central & Eastern Africa at Mondelēz International), Pumulani Ncube (chief executive officer, Beehive Capital, Aubrey Radebe(chairman, Asibambaneni Association), and Zolani Jazz Nyengule (enterprise development program participant). The session was chaired by business consultant Raleshaba Moeng.
